Nigerian Veteran Journalists Group Cancels Annual Lecture to Honour the Late Akinola Ariyo

Lagos State Chapter of League of Veteran Journalists has cancelled its annual lecture scheduled for December 16, 2025 in honour of the memory of one of its founding members, Mr. Akinola Ariyo who died on Wenesday during a protracted illness.
In a joint statement, the Chairman , Mr. Gboyega Amoboye and Secretary, Gbenga Onayiga of the  League said that no  sacrifice is too much to make in honour of a fallen and strong believer in the association.
The League described the late Ariyo as a consummate and passionate photojournalist.
“He had put in his best all over the years and distinguished himself  as one time, the Financial Secretary of Lagos NUJ and a strong member of the League of Veteran Journalists,” the veteran journalists said
The association expressed heartfelt condolences to his family, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN) and the entire media community.
The League has therefore offered unreserved apologies to all invitees, especially the guest lecturer and dignitaries for the unexpected cancellation of the event.
